Tomas Janzon’s Jazz Diary Live at jazzahead! 2026 Clubnight
We are pleased to announce a special concert during the jazzahead! 2026 Clubnight, presented in collaboration with “Neusi’s” . Once again, Jazzmedia & More will be fully represented at this year’s edition of jazzahead!, and we are proud to be involved in bringing top-class international jazz to Bremen’s night-time stages.
This year’s Clubnight programme at “neusi’s” features Swedish guitarist Tomas Janzon, a musician who has long moved confidently between Europe and the United States. Based in New York since 2002 and constantly touring worldwide, Janzon has built a reputation as a distinctive musical bridge: his playing blends the lyrical sophistication often associated with European jazz with the vibrant spontaneity and swing of the American tradition, creating a clear and personal voice on the guitar.
Over the course of a long career, Tomas Janzon has performed and recorded with a number of notable jazz artists, including drummer Billy Higgins, bassists Curtis Lundy and Tony Dumas, and pianists Donald Vega and Bobo Stenson. Since 2000 he has also run his own label, X-Changes, which has served as a home for his projects and a platform for his ongoing development as a composer, bandleader and improviser.

At jazzahead! Clubnight 2026 in Bremen, Janzon will present his new album, Jazz Diary, performing alongside Latvian drumer Andris Zabris and bassist Rubem Faria. Together, the group brings an agile, conversational trio sound to the stage, with space for interplay, rhythmic flexibility and melodic exploration. Audiences can expect an evening that moves freely between songlike lyricism, deep swing and more open, exploratory passages, all anchored by Janzon’s expressive guitar work.
Complementing Janzon’s vision, bassist Rubem Faria brings a wealth of international experience from his Brazilian roots and long-time base in Stockholm. A versatile performer known for collaborations with artists like Mike Stern, Randy Brecker, and Nils Landgren, Faria’s fluid, intuitive lines have anchored diverse projects from big bands to intimate settings, adding depth and drive to the ensemble. Drummer Andris Zabris, meanwhile, contributes precise yet dynamic support to enable the trio’s seamless shifts in texture and tempo.
For those attending the jazzahead! clubnight, this concert offers an excellent opportunity to experience an artist who genuinely embodies cross-Atlantic jazz dialogue, in an intimate club setting that suits his music perfectly. We’re looking forward to meeting friends, colleagues and new contacts in Bremen once again this year. We invite all jazzahead! attendees to join us at the Clubnight, discover Tomas Janzon live, and connect with us about our current and upcoming projects.
